The National Science Foundation (NSF) implementation of Section 7009 of the America Creating Opportunities to Meaningfully Promote Excellence in Technology, Education, and Science (COMPETES) Act requires institutions requesting funds for science and engineering research to include an RCR training plan as part of the grant proposal. UPRM currently requires participants in NSF-funded projects (undergraduate students, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers) to comply with this requirement through the following methods: CITI RCR course completion or a formal Bioethics course (such as: FILO 4027, HUMA 5991).
