  • 2013 NIH Focused Grant Writing Initiative (GWI)-sponsored by the UPRM NIH-EARDA Project

With the objective of increasing the number of UPRM researchers in the biomedical/biobehavioral sciences seeking NIH funding, the UPRM NIH EARDA Project sponsored the 2013 NIH Grant Writing Initiative. This initiative was¬†aimed at assisting researchers to write competitive NIH grant proposals by providing them the tools and resources for successful grant writing. The selected applicants (6) received as incentives: 1) a trip to the NIH Regional Seminar on Program Funding and Grants Administration; 2) individualized support by the R&D Center’s Proposal Development Unit staff, access to its resources and associated consultants; and 3) a week-long intensive Grant Writing Bootcamp. One participant, Dr. Marabella Domenech, was awarded the prestigious NIH K01 Training grant after participating in the GWI. ¬†Congratulations to Mara!
